President Bush's Written Address
to Nation's Arts Leaders

I am pleased to send warm greetings to all those attending the first joint meeting of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and Americans for the Arts.
From music and dance to painting and sculpting, the arts allow us to explore new worlds and to view life from another perspective. They also encourage individuals to sharpen their skills and
abilities and to nurture their imagination and intellect. As a Nation, we must continue to
recognize the importance of the arts in building strong and vibrant communities.
I commend the arts administrators and other arts supporters at this event for encouraging the performance and exhibition of the best of
America's creative spirit. I particularly applaud your involvement in quality projects that introduce children to the arts.
Your efforts challenge them to develop their unique talents in preparation for tomorrow's
opportunities and contribute to the continued advancement of our cultural heritage and
traditions.
Best wishes for an informative and memorable meeting.
