COMMUNITY
SESSION TOURS
Brooklyn:
Grand Army Plaza
The education division of the Brooklyn Museum of Art
(BMA), the second largest art museum in the United
States, will present two programs that revolve around
distinct exhibitions, audiences, and methodologies.
In the first program, museum educators will demonstrate
strategies for introducing first time elementary-school
visitors to themes in the permanent collection galleries.
In the second, held in the special exhibition Leon
Golub, a museum educator and a teenage volunteer will
discuss pedagogical techniques for preparing young
adults to serve as gallery guides for adult visitors.
Delegates will then be invited to participate in one
of two supplementary visits to neighboring cultural
institutions, either the Brooklyn Botanic Garden or
the Brooklyn Public Library.
