Carole Y. Lyles

Carole Y. Lyles, founder and President of the Columbia Resource Group, is a consultant working in leadership development, team building, diversity and strategic human resource planning. She has worked with such clients as AT&T, QVC, the American Red Cross, Potomac Electric Power Company and others. In addition, she is a frequent presenter on spirituality and the meaning of work. Also, Carole has published articles on leadership, diversity and other organizational issues.

After working several years in manufacturing and service companies, she joined Citicorp in 1981 where she served as Vice President in Human Resources. At Citicorp, she directed recruitment, employee relations and training departments for the mid-Atlantic credit card and telemarketing divisions. While there, she developed and implemented successful programs focusing on supervisory and management skills; succession planning for high performing managers; service quality training and positive employee relations. From 1989 to 1992, Carole was with the Johns Hopkins University School of Continuing Studies. There, she served as Program Director for masters degree programs in Organizational Development, Total Quality Management, Human Resources Development and Human Resources Management. While at Hopkins, Carole developed and launched the masters level concentration in Total Quality Management, one of the few such programs in the country offered at the graduate level. In addition, she developed and launched the Hopkins Leadership Development Program, a graduate level academic program for high potential minority managers. This program is the first of its kind in the country and has received several national awards for educational innovation.

Carole is a member of the faculty for the Fellows in Change Management, a graduate program in organization development offered by Johns Hopkins University. Carole also served as Assistant Professor in Management at the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College in Maryland. She taught courses for graduate students in the Executive and evening M.B.A. programs.

Carole received an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 1974. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Management and Organizational Behavior. Her research focus is in the areas of leadership and executive development, spirituality and work, and postmodern organizations.

Carole is also a professional textile artist. Her work has been widely exhibited and published.
