COMPEL + PROVOKE: PUBLIC
ART 2001
Year In Review
The Public Art Network of Americans for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies is proud to present Compel + Provoke: Public Art 2001, a public art preconference to their first joint convention, in New York City on July 26-27, 2001. The convention is scheduled for July 28-31, 2001.
We are pleased to kick-off this year's preconference with the popular Year In Review session that highlights the most innovative and exciting public art projects across the country. Jack Becker, editor of Public Art Review, the only journal dedicated to public art in the United States, and Harriet Seine, author of numerous public art books, including Critical Issues in Public Art: Content, Context, and Controversy, will be presenting the session. Please see the attached application form for information on how you can to submit slides for the inclusion of your projects. The postmark deadline for submissions is May 1st.
In addition to the conference presentation, the Public Art Network is also planning to post highlights of the Year In Review on its section of the Americans for the Arts' website, www.artsusa.org, and to make the slides available for distribution. Since we have received many requests for the slides, a slide set and script will be made available to the public for a nominal fee.
For more information about the public art preconference and the convention, visit www.participate2001.org. There you will find details about the preconference and convention sessions, in addition to logistics such as fees and hotel rates.
We look forward to seeing slides of your projects. Please pass this application along to others who might like to participate. If you have any questions please contact Renee Piechocki at reneepie@aol.com.
