This presentation of findings and facilitated discussion draws on a second year of research into how local arts agencies (LAAs) are faring and what they are doing to succeed in challenging times. The research was commissioned by Americans for the Arts and conducted by Bill Keens of Wolf, Keens & Company. Explore the insights generated by conversations with 26 LAA directors as they described conditions, trends, and strategies; learn how their expectations have changed over the past year; add your own insights; and hear from special guests and other colleagues about the steps they are taking to improve their odds. Open to all convention attendees.

Lynch, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts, and Jonathan Katz, Chief Executive Officer of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, as they illustrate how the outcomes of pARTicipate2004 are critical to our success.

Americans for the Arts and NASAA government affairs staff will provide an up-to-the-minute briefing on arts-related legislation, including NEA funding, with an emphasis on what you can do make sure the arts are winners on Capitol Hill. An essential session for those participating in Tuesday’s "Arts on the Hill" lobbying day.

5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Arts and Humanities for America Political Action Committee Fundraiser Reception
2004 marks an important election year. By attending this reception, individuals have an opportunity to contribute to this important political action committee that only supports pro-arts candidates running for federal office, regardless of political party. This is one of the most effective ways to elect current and future congressional arts leaders. This fundraiser requires a minimum individual contribution of $50 to attend.

Contributions to the Arts and Humanities for America PAC are not tax-deductible as a charitable donation for federal income tax purposes. Not paid for by Americans for the Arts, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, or any government entity.

After learning about the National Building Museum’s forthcoming exhibition, which includes tactile sculptures, discuss with an artist and docent how to enhance exhibit accessibility. Then, review accessibility basics, website access, and audio description, and conclude the afternoon with an update on the statewide forums on careers in the arts for people with disabilities.
