Preconference Information now Updated!
During the past decade, united advocacy has significantly increased decision-makers' awareness of and support for arts education. But we still have work to do. At this meeting, more than 200 partners at the local, state, and national levels joined together to develop action strategies that address critical arts education issues. They learned about specific local- and state-level strategies and programs on topics such as assessment, certification, and professional development. The meeting also included regional discussions leading to personal and collective action strategies. Participants left with long-term goals for arts education and new partnership ideas and approaches to bring home to make their vision a reality.
Throughout the preconference, an Action Strategies Committee, supplemented by session recorders, documented strategies for each key arts education issue. These were presented for discussion and further refinement in regional breakouts on the final afternoon.
Arts Education: Mobilizing a Commitment to Action was planned and implemented in partnership with the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network.
