Learn about the benefits of united arts fundraising, various UAF models, the process of starting a UAF and getting arts groups and community leadership vested, and how to develop workplace giving campaigns and design a UAF that fits your community. Alberto Vilar’s cultural history and education go back to his roots in Cuba. While he leads Amerindo Investment Advisors, Inc., a firm that pioneered investing in young technology companies 20 years ago, the performing arts remain his avocation and passion. He has a particular affinity for opera and ballet, as well as symphonic, classical choral, and chamber concert music. Vilar has become a significant patron of the arts throughout the world. In addition to his support of the Vilar Center for the Arts at Beaver Creek in Beaver Creek, CO, he is a major contributor to the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna Opera, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London, the Mozart Festival in Salzburg, and the Kirov Opera and Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia. Hear his thoughts on how major arts patrons determine where they will make their impact and the return on investment they expect.

Prepare to recognize the primary needs of corporate funders and develop strategies for establishing deeper relationships with them. Learn ideas for evolving the relationship to include an appreciation of the corporation’s need for marketing and your desire for philanthropy.

Widely recognized as a long-standing leader in corporate philanthropy, ExxonMobil has consistently provided funding for a broad range of concerns and has received numerous awards for its corporate citizenship, both domestically and internationally. Recently, it created a customized employee giving campaign in the Washington, DC, area and ended with 88 percent of its employees participating (an increase of 24 percent). Participate in an interactive interview with one of ExxonMobil’s leaders to hear what he thinks generated this success.
